The Aurora Eye Clinic is committed
to quality eye care for the community. We have been in practice for over 40 years in the Aurora community,
with the hope of continuing to provide quality eye care for Aurora and
the surrounding communities. Mission Statement
Our goal is to provide our
patients with the highest quality, state-of-the-art eye care. Office Policies
If you wish to speak to the
doctors by phone and they are with patients, it is best to leave a message.
They will return your call at the earliest possible time.
While they can be interrupted for true emergencies, it is generally
preferable if they can return your calls when they have the time to give
you their undivided attention. AppointmentsTo better serve you, we would like to run the office as smoothly and in as organized a manner as possible. Therefore, patients are seen by appointment only. Sometimes, however, delays are inevitable – operations may take longer than expected or emergencies may occur. We make a sincere effort to adhere to the office schedule, but in case of delay the receptionist will advise you. If, for some unforeseen reason, you must cancel your appointment, we ask that you give us as much advance notice as possible so that we may offer that time to another patient. Appointments are available
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Our receptionists are responsible for scheduling your visits.
New patient glaucoma consultations require extensive testing and
may take several hours. Patients with extensive diabetic history or
severe medical problems may take additional time as well. Patients interested in cataract surgery make
take additional time for evaluation of their cataract, including ultrasound
measurements and informational videotapes.
Complete eye examinations and consultations usually include eye
dilation and sunglasses are provided if you do not have them available. Eye EmergenciesWe are happy to take care of your eye emergencies. While patients are generally seen in the order of their appointments, those with more urgent problems are seen according to their level of need. Patients who come in late for their appointments may find that other patients are being seen before them as well. Please call the office first so that we can best prepare to take care of your problem. Our doctors are all surgeons and as such may be called for emergency surgery. This may result in our having to reschedule your appointment to the next most available date. We hope that if this situation does arise, it will not inconvenience you too much. A doctor is available for
emergencies after hours by calling the office and speaking with the answering
service. Please save prescription
refills and non-emergency questions for regular office hours. Insurance and Fees
It is important that our patients understand the financial arrangements for medical and surgical care. Basically, charges are determined by the time spent with the patient and vary with the severity and complexity of the problem. To help maintain the service at a lower cost to our patients, we ask that you pay the fees for office visits, testing, and office treatment at the time the service is rendered, unless prior arrangements are made with the business office. We accept Medicare assignment. We will submit all bills for Medicare patients. We are part of the Blue Cross-Blue Shield PPO, and other PPO and HMO arrangements. We are also part of the Fox Valley Medicine system. Our office is affiliated with a number of HMO plans. If you are covered by an HMO plan, you are required to bring your authorized referral slip with you at the time of appointment. We use a billing system known
as the “Superbill” and most insurance companies accept it. You will receive an itemized statement of services
rendered, and it should be attached to the insurance claim form. Then, simply mail this to your insurance company
for reimbursement. If you have any questions
about any of our office policies or procedures, we would be pleased to
discuss them with you. The Aurora Eye Clinic offers a full line of services with extensive experience:
$ Comprehensive optical services for all ages, including routine eye care. Contact lenses of all types including tinted, disposable and bifocal. Quality frames to fit any budget. We also carry the new “thin and light” lenses. $ Detection and medical/surgical treatment of eye diseases, injuries and strain. State-of-the-art testing facilities with full diagnostic capabilities on-site, including fluorescein angiography and ultrasound equipment, to better serve our patients. $ Glaucoma testing, treatment and care. Patients often experience no initial symptoms of glaucoma, we routinely examine and test patients for any indication of increased fluid pressure within the eye. Glaucoma may be controlled with medication in some patients, but may require surgery in others. With prompt diagnosis, careful monitoring and treatment, vision loss due to glaucoma is largely preventable. $ Cataract surgery and corneal transplants. $ Laser surgery using the latest technology is available in our office, which is easy and convenient for our patients. Laser surgery, including Argon and YAG laser, is often used for treatment of such eye diseases as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy because it provides the advantages of precision, safety and lower costs. $ Photo Refractive Keratectomy (PRK) with the Excimer Laser is a new technology, which offers new hope for sight with the possibility of reducing your dependence upon corrective eyewear. $ Correction of Eyelid Droop – Drooping of the upper eyelids may be the result of aging or injury, possibly giving patients a tired appearance, in addition to limiting the patient’s field of vision. A reconstructive surgical procedure removes excess skin and fatty tissue, which may improve appearance as well as improve vision. $ Pediatric
ophthalmology – When an imbalance or weakness occurs in any of the muscles
which control eye movement and the normal alignment needed for good vision,
vision may be impaired. Corrective
muscle surgery has been shown to be highly effective in restoring normal
binocular vision in children. Numerous videotapes provide patients and family members a better understanding of the proposed surgery, allowing patients to make an informed decision. We offer an extensive videotape library for the review of various surgeries and eye disorders. These tapes are available to explain various eye disorders and procedures for a clear understanding of the best treatment options. |
